U.S. SYMBOLS INTERACTIVE KEEPSAKE BOOK
The U.S. Symbols Interactive Activities were created for kindergarten through second grade. Students can assemble the activities inside a three-dimensional Statue of Liberty keepsake book or add the individual pieces to a composition notebook.
Choose a few activities for one focused day or complete the entire book across a week. Students can use nonfiction books and videos as research before recording and applying what they learn.

U.S. Symbols Books and Read-Alouds
Begin by gathering a few nonfiction books about U.S. symbols and landmarks. Most school libraries have several choices that work well for shared reading and student research.
As each symbol is introduced, students can collect important facts, discuss what it represents, and add new vocabulary to an anchor chart. They can then use what they learned to complete the corresponding parts of the interactive book.

Short videos help students see landmarks and national symbols beyond the pages of a book. Save a few previewed choices to use for whole-group research, discussion, or review. Free Patriot Day Math Color by Code for K–5
Patriot Day is observed each September 11 as a day of remembrance. To provide a quiet and familiar classroom activity, I created a free Patriot Day math color-by-code with choices for kindergarten through fifth grade.
The free download includes four versions so teachers can select the level that best fits their students:
- Kindergarten: number representations for 6–9
- Kindergarten and first grade: addition within 10
- First and second grade: addition within 20
- Third through fifth grade: multiplication practice
Students count or solve each section and use the four-color code to complete the patriotic picture. The pages work well for morning work, independent math practice, math stations, small-group review, or early finishers.
