Ready or Not…Meet the Teacher!

Tomorrow we have our annual convocation, BBQ Picnic (Texas baby), and in service followed by a mad dash across town back to school for Meet the Teacher Night.

Pack your chevron dress and lipstick because it is going to be one LONG day!

Thankfully our team of 4 first grade teachers rallied together today and got our rooms ready!

Here’s how it will go down this year:

When parents and students walk in they will find signs helping direct them around the room.

The first stop is to find their child’s packet.  Any packets left over let me know who did not come to meet the teacher night.

Station Two is all about the backpack tags.

Station Three- Pick a Seat!  Students write their name on a sticky note on the desk that they would like to sit at for the first day.  On the desk, parents will find an important info sheet that has to be done before they leave.  Everything else in their packet can wait until the first day of school.

Station 4 is out in the hall.  Supply sorting happens out where it won’t over crowd the classroom.

The editable signs have been updated.  You can still get the older version in the same download.

Here’s the full look in the hall.

Station 5 is where parents can take a helping hand.  These are small items they can donate to our classroom that aren’t on the school supply list.

Finally station 6 is the treat station.  Students get a necklace and parents get a little refreshment!

If you are interested in tags MUCH cuter than these, you need to check
out Farley’s tags!  She updated her packet and they are SOOOOO ADORABLE! Just click the pictures below to check them out!

  1. This year we are lucky – meet the teacher happens outside! No one allowed in our rooms. We have not had a workday in our rooms before Meet the Teacher. We also have an all day I service and district picnic / lunch that day, then back to school for Meet the teacher.

  2. Oh, I love love love your hallway bulletin board!!!!!!
And I want to work at a school where parents have to bring supplies and drop them in bins. Looks fun!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I am looking to purchase your open house signs…they are wonderful! I am wondering if I can also purchase the supply labels you hang in the hallway(great idea!)to help with organization?

    Thank You!

  4. I am doing a very similar "meet the teacher", ours is called "say hello". I have my signs made up, but I am wondering what to put in the envelopes. I used to give my handbook out, but I learned last year that I change things in the first 2-3 weeks before our back to school night, which is when I will finally give out the handbook. What do you put in our envelopes?

  5. Your room and all of your ideas are great! Did you make the flowers for the word wall? Do you sell them on Tpt? Any chance you have a picture focused on your word wall…it's ADORABLE!

  6. This is amazing! I will be sure to incorporate this at the beginning of the year! Thanks for sharing!

  7. I love your ideas! I teach first grade & might try letting the students put their name on a seat that they want for the first day. But I wanted to know if there were any bumps or problems that I should plan for since you've done this. Thanks!

  8. I LOVE how organized your are! We do stations with students all the time, but I had never thought about creating stations for parents at open-house. Love it!

  9. Great ideas! I found on a blog last year an idea that worked great for me. Use large brown grocery bags, label with childs name, staple the supply list to each bag – at MTT (ours is the day before Kinders start) parents place their child's supplies in their bag. After the meeting, my assistant and I go through the bags and highlight the items on the list not yet received. The bigger community items such as paper towel and wipes, they place in labeled plastic tubs.
