Ready or Not…Meet the Teacher!
Tomorrow we have our annual convocation, BBQ Picnic (Texas baby), and in service followed by a mad dash across town back to school for Meet the Teacher Night.
Pack your chevron dress and lipstick because it is going to be one LONG day!
Thankfully our team of 4 first grade teachers rallied together today and got our rooms ready!
Here’s how it will go down this year:
When parents and students walk in they will find signs helping direct them around the room.
The first stop is to find their child’s packet. Any packets left over let me know who did not come to meet the teacher night.
Station Two is all about the backpack tags.
Station Three- Pick a Seat! Students write their name on a sticky note on the desk that they would like to sit at for the first day. On the desk, parents will find an important info sheet that has to be done before they leave. Everything else in their packet can wait until the first day of school.
Station 4 is out in the hall. Supply sorting happens out where it won’t over crowd the classroom.
Here’s the full look in the hall.

Station 5 is where parents can take a helping hand. These are small items they can donate to our classroom that aren’t on the school supply list.
Finally station 6 is the treat station. Students get a necklace and parents get a little refreshment!
out Farley’s tags! She updated her packet and they are SOOOOO ADORABLE! Just click the pictures below to check them out!
I deal with supplies in the exact same way. Labeled bins are the way to go!
I LOVE how organized this is! Love the sticky note for their desk idea too! 🙂
Love your organization!
Love this! Great ideas!
This year we are lucky – meet the teacher happens outside! No one allowed in our rooms. We have not had a workday in our rooms before Meet the Teacher. We also have an all day I service and district picnic / lunch that day, then back to school for Meet the teacher.
Scrambling for meet the teacher on Friday! Thanks for your ideas 🙂
Love it all. You are so organized!
Journey Of A Substitute Teacher
The sorting of the supplies in the HALL is the best idea.
So fun! Thanks for the free tags.
You have some great ideas in this post! I wish my meet the teacher was this organized and productive!
So cute! Great job Reagan!
Beautiful! You are so organized and thoughtful 🙂

Love the way you have this set-up! I was wondering if it would be possible to get/purchase the labels you used for supplies in the hallway!? Thanks!
This seems lovely! I tried stations (far less cute and organized by comparison) and it was a fail. I'm anxious to see how these turn out! **Wishing you luck**

You Might Be a First Grader….
Oh, I love love love your hallway bulletin board!!!!!!
And I want to work at a school where parents have to bring supplies and drop them in bins. Looks fun!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW, Reagan… that is all sorts of amazing! I bet the parents at your school will soon be talking about "the new teacher" and how wonderful she is!
Giant hugs and best wishes for a great year…

Finding JOY in 6th Grade
I am looking to purchase your open house signs…they are wonderful! I am wondering if I can also purchase the supply labels you hang in the hallway(great idea!)to help with organization?

Your classroom looks wonderful, organized, and engaging as always! I can't wait to find out how your first week goes. Good luck!

Come join in on the fun today and link up. I would love to read your words of inspiration. http://thenewprincipalprinciples.blogspot.com/2013/08/lets-make-statement.html
I love how you collected the supplies!!
I am doing a very similar "meet the teacher", ours is called "say hello". I have my signs made up, but I am wondering what to put in the envelopes. I used to give my handbook out, but I learned last year that I change things in the first 2-3 weeks before our back to school night, which is when I will finally give out the handbook. What do you put in our envelopes?

If You Give a Teacher a Treat
Such a cool way to do it all! *Almost* wishing I taught elementary school…but I'll stick with the big kids in high school for now.
Your room and all of your ideas are great! Did you make the flowers for the word wall? Do you sell them on Tpt? Any chance you have a picture focused on your word wall…it's ADORABLE!
I love the numbered signs!! Great idea….. Love the room too! 🙂

A Kindergarten Lifestyle
This is amazing! I will be sure to incorporate this at the beginning of the year! Thanks for sharing!
I love your ideas! I teach first grade & might try letting the students put their name on a seat that they want for the first day. But I wanted to know if there were any bumps or problems that I should plan for since you've done this. Thanks!
I love the idea of telling the parents what they need to do 1, 2, 3. I may try that!

I LOVE how organized your are! We do stations with students all the time, but I had never thought about creating stations for parents at open-house. Love it!
Love these ideas!! I'm going to try lots of them in my classroom this year! 🙂

Great ideas! I found on a blog last year an idea that worked great for me. Use large brown grocery bags, label with childs name, staple the supply list to each bag – at MTT (ours is the day before Kinders start) parents place their child's supplies in their bag. After the meeting, my assistant and I go through the bags and highlight the items on the list not yet received. The bigger community items such as paper towel and wipes, they place in labeled plastic tubs.
I bought the signs and was wondering if I could have the ones for the water bottles too?
Great ideas!
I can't find the water bottle download anywhere. If you got it can you send it along? [email protected]
