well….as done as classrooms ever are…there’s always a to do list on my desk… TBA is having a linky party to share classroom pictures! Be sure to link up! I love peeking in your classroom too!
Here’s my beginning of the year bulletin board outside my door.
I made the frames out of home depot yard sticks and added the apples and the ribbon.
Here is a little closer view
I cut the Styrofoam apples in half before glue gunning them to the corner.
This is my leveled classroom library. It is where my students fill their book bins for daily 5. The book barn area is not leveled. It is grouped by topic or genre so I keep them separate. Click here to grab the labels for yourself!
The student files are handled by the students. I post their names and numbers on the paper above the student file box. They walk over and file their work in their number file after I have checked it. On Friday I just pull their work out to send home. Best system ever. This has lasted through the years for me.
Aside from my smartboard, this is my other whole group spot. I gathered a few of the books I use the first week. This rocker was my grandmothers…I want to paint it like Kristen’s at first grade teaching, but I can’t bring myself to paint over my grandma’s olive green…it makes me remember her house. Plus as an added bonus it goes with my classroom.
My computer corner…I am thinking I need to make a cool computer poster for the wall where my lonely label hangs…ok add that to the to do list….
These are my math tubs…they are all set for the first week of exploration and setting expectations.
Not my most exciting part of the room- but necessary. Notice the sub tub {it’s clear with a white label-kind of hard to see} it came What the Teacher Wants The birthday balloons were on her blog too but that’s not where I first discovered them. See below.
I am standing at the counter in the back looking towards the front of the room.
Here’s the opposite view. I am now looking at the back wall.
guided reading table and writer’s workshop table…also I know it isn’t August 18th…That is just the first day I need to have a date on the wall. Don’t freak out. 🙂
My reading table isn’t totally ready yet…still have about 3,946 folders to label and I need to get my guided reading binder all set to go for a new year.
My introductory board for daily 5. This is before we start breaking it down and making anchor charts. The daily 5 posters came from a blog and I want to post the source. {please help if you can!} The months and the days of the week came from The First Grade Parade.
