End of the Year Solutions

The end of the year for school can be exhausting to say the least.   State assessments, final grades, field day, parties, graduations, memory books, RTI documentation due, final conferences, checkout checklists, packing the classroom, the list goes on and on.

As for the end of the year, students are the most mature they are going to be and are virtually on auto pilot (thank you procedures and routines).  Therefore, math (and most subjects) are review and deepening of understanding.  I like to mix it up and have students practice and apply the skills they learned all school year long in different formats.

End of the Year Digital Review Guides

A student favorite is the digital end of year math review.  These are slides to put up in front of the class and allow them to work it out on the board, on whiteboards, or in a journal.  Then as a class, we can discuss their strategies, how they went about solving, and the correct answer.  I have this end in review for all grade levels Kindergarten-4th grade.

Print and Practice for K-2

For even more practice, these end of year Print and Practice pages are perfect.  Just print them out and let the students practice skills from the school year.  The skills are in varying abilities and perfect for differentiation among your guided math groups and to use in an independent practice station.

Spiral Review Skill Pages for 3rd and 4th

In third and fourth grade, test prep is king.  To allow students that time to practice for an assessment, I have spiral review skill pages.  They contain the necessary content and concepts that help students recall and use the skills and strategies they learned over the year to excel in standardized tests.

RTI Documentation

We’ve all been there, the moment your principal asks for your end of year Response to Intervention (RTI) documentation. Having ONE place to keep notes on students is the “ticket” for keeping up with documentation (or so I have found).  I like to keep my Guided Reading and my Guided Math binders at my small group table.  These binders have places where I can take notes, show progress, give assessments, and more.

Class Awards

The end of the year means it is time for the awards ceremonies.  I love giving out awards that celebrate all the little things of each student.  I created over 40 “punny” awards that are completely editable and customizable for any award you need.  It can be academic, behaviorally, or “just because” awards.  You can make them fit your class and your students.  Likewise, there is a checklist included as well to be sure everyone gets an award.  The kids (and the parents) get a kick out of the awards and it truly highlights everyone’s strengths and talents in a cute and whimsical way.
