January Math and Literacy with Free New Year’s Activities

A fresh new year with fresh new freebies for you to set out to greet students into the second half of the school year. We have eight free New Year’s activities for you to warm your students up to new learning in January.

Kicking it off with this Countdown to a New Year Activity, students order the numbers or words from ten to one.

Students get familiar with the new year numbers and do some goal-setting with these three differentiated activities.

Here’s a little New Year fun with a free I Spy color and Count Math Activity.

Finally, we added some writing with fireworks! Students use their senses to choose adjectives and create a fireworks poem. Have students make a paper, glitter, or pattern block firework art piece for fun.

Then we do the same for math. There are nearly 70 pages of math and literacy all with the theme of winter, snow, and January vibes.

Crock Pot Hot Cocoa at School

If allowed, we love to have students earn a reward of hot cocoa at school. Just adding the hot cocoa powder mix, water, or even just a jug of chocolate milk into the crock pot, and your favorite toppings is such a simple warm and cozy reward incentive, but of course, we sneak in learning with it!
